Mara Zingg

Prior to joining Allagash from 2008-2024, Ms. Zingg managed thousands of residential rental units serving both market rate and subsidized residential communities as the Regional Property Manager in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US for Atrium Management Company, The Ross Companies, The Park Property Management Company, Gates Hudson, Lincoln Property Company, and Colonial Properties Trust She performed and directed property operations, developed and implemented preventive maintenance, compliance, and asset preservation policies policies, compliance and asset preservation. During much of this period, Ms. Zingg has also served as a financial consultant to Lincoln Property Company. Additionally, she and Mr. Barkan had the opportunity to work together from 2020-2023 when Ms. Zingg directly managed a newly-purchased multifamily community in Newport News, Virginia for Allagash’s multifamily opportunity zone business. During this time, she oversaw the property’s increase in occupancy from under 80% to above 95% while also increasing rents by over 25% while still maintaining them at levels that were affordable for the local LMI community.

In her role as Regional Property Manager, Ms. Zingg has managed the entire continuum of property operations for both subsidized and market rate properties serving low-/moderate-income households including local, state, and federal program compliance for income-restricted housing programs – from tenant income testing to file retention protocols. She has achieved the successful lease-up of numerous new developments. She has developed, implemented, and overseen tenant relationship policies and has performed and managed applicant processing, waitlist management, compliance workflow and approval, internal compliance and auditing, reasonable accommodations, recertification workflow, regulatory audits and reporting, internal compliance training within an eLearning platform, and relocation compliance. Ms. Zingg has initiated and fostered numerous relationships with local, state, and regional funders and service partners. She has also performed and directed the collection and reporting of occupancy and other property performance and financial data. As part of her management responsibilities, Ms. Zingg has screened and assigned workloads and has planned, prioritized, and staffed both short-term and long-term capital projects as well as trained both staff and management, monitored productivity and quality, and evaluated individual and group performance.

From 1987-1992, Mara served in the United States Marine Corps Military Police as a Sergeant, where she deployed overseas in direct support of Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

She holds her Certified Defense Property Manager Certification from IREM (CDPM), Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), Certified Professional of Occupancy HUD Certification and a Specialist in Housing Credit Management Certification, both developed by the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA).

Ms. Zingg and her husband live just outside of Richmond, Virginia. She has 3 sons, 2 granddaughters, and 4 dogs.
